BOOK TWO:
Northern Bites by Nikki Jefford
(Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #2)
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy
Synopsis:
Love bites.
Probation sucks.
Thanks to Dante’s recklessness, Aurora is now partners with Valerie: the redheaded, backstabbing vixen.
Dante is in full flirt mode. Fane’s tactics are more ruthless. Something carnal has awakened in Aurora and neither boy is helping tame her cravings.
When a member of the unit’s team is found dead, Aurora and Valerie are sent after a vampire in Sitka, but Aurora suspects the killer’s much closer to home.
My Review
There are two things I definitely remembered when I started reading Northern Bites, first how book 1 ended and left me hanging. Secondly how much I absolutely dislike Valerie. I wanted Aurora to haul out and punch by the second page. Although I have to give Aurora credit for the nickname Strawberry Suck Cake. That made me laugh. I also have a bond with the books since Aurora and I have the same blood type. Besides all of that though Nikki Jefford has managed to blow me away with these books. There are so many things that I love about them.
Equally action packed as the first there were parts that I was freaking out right along with the characters. Think The Shinning…..it was so creepy. I love that when there is action, Aurora is focused on her job. She absorbed in her task at hand and doesn’t stand there and obsess over a guy while she is about to get killed. She tries to figure out how to not get killed.
Great characters in the book, even the characters that I hate because they stay true to who they are. Even if momentarily Aurora and Valerie get along. Valerie is still Valeries, she still has a massive attitude and she thinks Aurora is below her. I also like that even though strained Aurora and her mom have a good relationship. Her mom is not perfect but they honestly care about eachother. Dante and Aurora is also another favorite part of the book for me. I think their relationship definitely grows in Northern Bites. They have that cute flirty but also great friends kind of thing going for them. It wouldn’t take much to push them over the edge in to the romantic. Then of course there is Fane. Oh Fane, I can’t decide if I like you or don’t like you.
Another great plot, there are so many things going on and you don’t always know who is on your side and who isn’t. It’s fast paced and well developed. You don’t end up with any lag there is always something going and going down. The romance is perfect, although I’m upset with some things it’s just great how well Nikki balances the bigger plot points with the romance side. Like I said before it’s nothing that Aurora obsesses over, she’s got other things going on too. It does not drive the plot like it could.
So many things at the end. Ahhhhhh. Why does Nikki Jefford do this to me! I’m tortured I really am and I desperately need book 3 I can’t take it. It’s one of those things where I make different scenarios of how things can play out in my own head. Some serious book hangover.
BOOK ONE:
Aurora Sky by Nikki Jefford
(Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #1)
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal, Urban Fantasy
Her blood is toxic to vampires.
If there is one thing eighteen-year-old Aurora Sky wants, it's to get off the iceberg she calls home. Being kissed before she graduates wouldn't hurt either.
Then a near-fatal car wreck changes everything. Government agents step in and save Aurora's life in exchange for her services as a vampire hunter in Alaska. Basically she's a glorified chew toy. All thanks to her rare blood type, which sends a vampire into temporary paralysis right before she has to finish the job...by hand.
Now Aurora's only friends are groupies of the undead and the only boy she can think about may very well be a vampire.
(Mature YA/New Adult series. Contains mild language, violence, sexual situations . . . and blood sucking.)
